Yngwie Malmsteen

Yngwie Malmsteen is one of the few guitarists that was inspired by the great composers of the last few centuries. Although he has covered many of their songs he has used their influence to create a unique style that few posses.

Alice in Wonderland

Lewis Carroll wrote the original Alice in wonderland and since then there haven’t been any dramatic changes to the story. This is probably because it was written only about a hundred and fifty years ago.
In the Lewis Carroll version Alice notices a white rabbit talking to himself and she is immediately intrigued. She follows the rabbit and falls, for what seems like hours, down a hole until she lands in a mysterious new land. Throughout the many versions of the story there are a lot of reoccurring themes, such as growing up and out of phases.
When Alice lands, she explores her surroundings which have become a hallway filled with doors. She tries each door but each is locked, stricken with sorrow she sits down. When she sits, she notices a small table with a small golden on it. Alice quickly realizes that this must be a key to one of the doors and tries all of them. She tries and tries but the key doesn’t seem to fit in any of the doors, until she comes to a low curtain, behind the curtain there is an equally small door. The key fits perfectly and the door opens, but because it is so small she cannot fit, sadly she returns to the small table hoping for another key. She doesn’t find a key, but a curious little bottle of a strange liquid marked drink me. Being the naïve little girl that she is she drinks it, and almost immediately starts to shrink.

Amadeus

Although I don’t usually listen to classical music, I did enjoy listening to Mozart. It was a nice change of pace from what I usually listen to. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to hear one of his angrier pieces, but it’s still a good cd to listen to when you’re in a good mood.
Even though I listen to a lot of different styles of music, that usually has some form of guitar in it, I found that it was pretty easy to understand the message that Mozart was trying to convey. The music had sort of a triumphant feel to it, when I listen to it I feel like all my hard work has finally paid off and I have a reason to rejoice. It makes me feel like all of dreams have come to fruition. That there’s nothing I can’t accomplish, and that any and all obstacles can be overcome with hard work, dedication, and most of all patience.

Electrcity

When you think of electricity what name usually comes to mind? Most people would usually think of Thomas Edison, but history, or rather the people, seems to have forgotten a very important contributor. Nikola Tesla is one of, if not the greatest, inventors in human history. He created a system that powers our homes, fluorescent lighting, and the modern radio. If he was such a great inventor why don’t more people know who he is?

When Nikola Tesla came to the United States in 1884 he was able to quickly find work at Edison Machine Works. There developed a more efficient way of distributing energy. Edison tried to dispute the fact by making insane accusations against Tesla. He claimed that alternating currents where very dangerous and that direct currents were more efficient. Tesla tried to ensure the people that alternating currents were safe by performing tests, were he was able to light lamps using only his body to direct the flow of electricity to the lamp. In 1885 George Westinghouse bought the patent rights to Telsa’s system of alternating currents, and in 1893 the dispute was finally settled when Tesla used his system to light the World Colombian Expedition.
